wrens

Small loud songsters

Wrens are small, plump songbirds known for their loud, complex songs and cocked tails.

Found across much of the world, they tend to be brown and inconspicuous, often darting through underbrush or hopping along fences.

The house wren is among the most familiar North American species, nesting readily in backyard birdhouses.

A pair of wrens took up residence in our garden shed.
