thomsonite
Calcium sodium zeolite
Thomsonite is a zeolite mineral that forms in cavities within basaltic rocks, typically appearing as radiating clusters of white, pink, or yellowish prismatic crystals.
It was named after Scottish chemist Thomas Thomson in the early 19th century.
Collectors prize thomsonite, particularly specimens from the Lake Superior region, where wave-polished nodules display distinctive "eye" patterns of concentric bands.
