third law
Action-reaction principle
Third law almost always refers to Newton's third law of motion: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
When one object exerts force on another, the second exerts equal force back.
The rocket rises because exhaust pushes down and the third law pushes the rocket up.
In other contexts, third law may reference Asimov's laws of robotics or the laws of thermodynamics.
