second law
Entropy always increases
The second law almost always means the second law of thermodynamics, which states that entropy in a closed system tends to increase over time—things naturally move toward disorder, not order.
Heat flows from hot to cold, not the reverse.
The phrase occasionally refers to Newton's second law of motion (force equals mass times acceleration) or Asimov's second law of robotics, but context usually makes the reference clear.
