thermal springs

Naturally heated pools

Thermal springs are natural water sources heated by geothermal energy from below the earth's surface.

The water emerges warmer than the surrounding air temperature, sometimes hot enough to scald.

Many thermal springs contain dissolved minerals believed to have therapeutic properties, making them destinations for bathing and wellness tourism: We soaked in the thermal springs after hiking.

Also called hot springs.
