taxman

Government revenue collector

A taxman is a person who collects taxes, especially one who works for the government's revenue agency.

The term often carries a slightly adversarial tone—the taxman is who comes after your money: The taxman takes a third of my paycheck.

British English uses it more than American, where IRS agent is more common.
