taxidermize

Mount dead animals

To taxidermize is to preserve and mount the skin of a dead animal so it appears lifelike—the work of taxidermy.

The word is somewhat informal; professionals more often say "mount" or "prepare." He had his prized buck taxidermized and hung it over the fireplace.
