fleshing
Developing the details
Fleshing is the process of removing flesh, fat, and membrane from the inside of an animal hide before tanning.
Tanners and taxidermists flesh hides to prepare them for preservation: After fleshing the deer hide, she soaked it in a salt solution.
The term also appears as a present participle of flesh, as in fleshing out a plan or character—adding substance to something skeletal.
