tanglefoot

Low-grade rotgut liquor

Tanglefoot is slang for cheap whiskey or other strong liquor, especially the kind that makes you stumble: He'd been into the tanglefoot again.

The word also names a sticky substance used to trap insects or keep them from climbing trees.

Both senses share the idea of something that impedes movement—whether legs or bugs.
