tachymeter

Velocity measuring bezel

A tachymeter is an instrument for measuring speed or distance, typically a scale on the bezel of a chronograph watch that calculates speed based on time elapsed over a known distance.

Surveyors also use tachymeters—theodolites that measure distances by analyzing light signals rather than physical tape.
