syphon

Tube for transferring liquid

Syphon is a variant spelling of siphon—a tube that uses atmospheric pressure to draw liquid from one container to another, or the act of transferring liquid this way.

The spelling with y is more common in British English: He syphoned petrol from the tank.

Figuratively, to syphon funds is to divert them, often illicitly.
