else

Besides all that

Else is an important function word that also carries the idea of other or alternative.

As an adjective it is placed after a word beginning with some- or any-: Does anyone else want to go with us? I would really like to live somewhere else.

The combinations anything else and nothing else are used talk about any or no additional thing: Is there anything else you need from the store? Or else introduces a necessary alternative if what comes before it does not work: Hurry up or else we’ll go without you.
