envisage

Form mental images

To envisage something is to picture it mentally or contemplate it as a possibility: I can't envisage a scenario where that works.

The word often implies considering future outcomes or imagining how something might unfold: She envisaged a career in medicine.

More common in British than American English, where *envision* tends to be preferred.
