presupposing

Assuming from outset

Presupposing is assuming something in advance as a basis for argument or action.

To presuppose is to take for granted what hasn't been established: The question presupposes that everyone wants to get married.

A presupposition is often unstated, built into the framing itself—asking "Have you stopped cheating?" presupposes prior cheating.
