squadmate

Unit member alongside

A squadmate is a fellow member of one's squad—a teammate in a small military unit or, more commonly now, in video games.

The term is standard in multiplayer shooters and tactical games where players form small teams: My squadmate revived me before the enemy could finish me off.

Outside gaming, it appears in military contexts for soldiers who serve together in the same squad.
