space weapon
Satellite-based munition
A space weapon is any weapon designed to operate in or target objects in outer space.
This includes anti-satellite missiles, orbital weapons platforms, and directed-energy systems capable of disabling satellites or spacecraft.
The term appears frequently in arms control discussions and military strategy: The treaty banned the deployment of space weapons.
Some definitions extend to ground-based systems that target space assets.
