slub
Thick spot, thread
A slub is a thick, uneven section in yarn or thread, once considered a defect but now often introduced deliberately for texture: slub cotton, slub silk.
Fabric woven from slubbed yarn has a characteristically irregular, nubby surface.
As a verb, to slub is to draw and twist fiber in preparation for spinning.
