sleep talking

Unconscious bedtime chatter

Sleep talking is speaking aloud while asleep, usually without awareness or memory of it afterward.

The speech ranges from mumbled nonsense to coherent sentences.

It often occurs during transitions between sleep stages and may increase with stress, fever, or sleep deprivation: My roommate's sleep talking woke me up at 3 a.m.
