silverbeet
Swiss chard variety
Silverbeet is a leafy green vegetable with large, crinkled leaves and thick, fleshy stalks—often white, but sometimes red or yellow.
It's the same plant as Swiss chard, though silverbeet is the preferred term in Australia and New Zealand: I sautéed the silverbeet with garlic.
Both leaves and stalks are edible, typically cooked rather than eaten raw.
