sign twirlers
Streetside billboard dancers
Sign twirlers are people who stand on sidewalks or street corners spinning and flipping advertising signs to attract attention to nearby businesses.
The job combines promotional work with acrobatic skill—skilled twirlers develop elaborate routines, tossing signs in the air and catching them behind their backs.
A sign twirler outside the new pizza place was doing tricks with an arrow pointing to the entrance.
