shuttlepod

Short-range space vehicle

A shuttlepod is a small spacecraft designed for short-range transport between larger vessels or nearby stations, typically carrying only a few passengers.

The term comes from science fiction, especially *Star Trek*, where shuttlepods handle trips too short for transporters or too routine for full-sized shuttlecraft: Take a shuttlepod over to the station.
