Cut the fleece
Sheared is the past tense of shear, meaning to cut or clip, especially wool from sheep: The farmer sheared the flock before summer.
It also describes something cut off or broken by lateral force: The bolt sheared clean off.
As an adjective, sheared describes fabric or fur trimmed to uniform length: a sheared beaver coat.
