seven-string
Guitar with extra
A seven-string guitar adds a lower bass string to the standard six, extending the instrument's range downward.
The design gained popularity in heavy metal and progressive rock, where the extra low end suits aggressive riffing and complex arrangements: He switched to a seven-string for the heavier material.
