seminarist
Future priest student
A seminarist is a student at a seminary—a school that trains people for religious ministry, especially the Catholic priesthood.
The word emphasizes the person's status as someone in formation, not yet ordained: The young seminarist spent his summers working in parish soup kitchens.
Also spelled seminarian, which is more common in American English.
