self-sterile
Cannot fertilize itself
Self-sterile describes a plant or organism that cannot fertilize itself—its own pollen won't produce viable seeds on its own flowers.
Many fruit trees are self-sterile and require a different variety nearby for cross-pollination: You'll need two apple trees since most varieties are self-sterile.
The opposite is self-fertile.
