security perimeter

Guarded outer edge

A security perimeter is the boundary of a protected area—physical or digital.

In physical security, it's the outer edge that must be breached to gain access: Guards patrol the security perimeter.

In cybersecurity, it refers to the boundary between trusted internal networks and untrusted external ones, defended by firewalls and other controls.
