scatterguns
Wide-dispersal firearms
Scatterguns are shotguns—firearms that spray multiple pellets rather than firing a single projectile.
The name captures how the shot disperses in a wide pattern.
Figuratively, a scattergun approach lacks focus, hitting many targets without precision: Their scattergun marketing strategy wasted money on audiences who'd never buy.
