rustication
Sent to countryside
Rustication is banishment to the countryside, or more broadly, a period of rural seclusion.
In British universities, to rusticate a student is to suspend them temporarily—sending them away from the institution.
In architecture, rustication refers to masonry with deeply recessed joints and rough-hewn surfaces, giving buildings a rugged, fortress-like appearance: The palazzo's rusticated ground floor contrasted with the smooth upper stories.
