run off
Leave in haste
Run off centers on departure or removal.
To run off is to leave quickly, often unexpectedly: The kids ran off before I could stop them.
You can run someone off by chasing or driving them away.
To run off copies is to produce them quickly, usually by machine: Run off fifty flyers for the meeting.
A runoff is excess water flowing from saturated ground, or a second election when no candidate wins outright.
To run off at the mouth is to talk too much.
