rudeboys

Skinhead music fans

Rudeboys (or rude boys) originated in 1960s Jamaica as young men associated with ska and rocksteady music, often linked to street culture and stylish defiance.

The term migrated to Britain with Jamaican immigrants and resurged with 2 Tone ska revival in the late 1970s.

Today it describes someone embracing that subculture's aesthetic—sharp suits, porkpie hats, and reggae-influenced music: The rudeboys showed up looking fresh in their two-tone suits.
