trilby

Narrow-brimmed hat

A trilby is a soft felt hat with a narrow brim and an indented crown, similar to a fedora but with a shorter brim that angles down in front and up in back.

The style became associated with jazz musicians and British fashion in the mid-twentieth century, and has seen revivals as a fashion accessory: He paired the trilby with a slim-cut suit. (Capitalized Trilby is a proper name.)
