porkpie

Short-brimmed felt hat

A porkpie is a hat with a flat crown and a narrow brim turned up all around, resembling the shape of a traditional pork pie.

It became associated with jazz musicians in the mid-20th century and has cycled in and out of fashion since: He wore a felt porkpie tilted back on his head.

In British rhyming slang, porkpie (or porky) means lie: Don't tell porkies.
