cementum
Tooth root layer
Cementum is the thin layer of calcite tissue covering the root of a tooth.
It anchors the tooth to the jawbone by providing attachment for the periodontal ligament.
Unlike enamel, which covers the crown, cementum is softer and can regenerate to some degree when damaged.
