ringnecks
Banded-throat game birds
Ringnecks are birds with distinctive bands of color around their necks.
The term most often refers to ring-necked pheasants, popular game birds with iridescent plumage and white collar markings: We flushed a pair of ringnecks from the tall grass.
It also applies to ring-necked ducks and various parakeet species kept as pets.
