riceball

Molded sushi filling

A riceball is a Japanese food consisting of rice shaped into a ball or triangle, often wrapped in seaweed and filled with fish, pickled plum, or other ingredients.

Called onigiri in Japanese, riceballs are portable and commonly eaten as snacks or packed lunches: I grabbed a salmon riceball from the convenience store.

Also spelled as two words: rice ball.
