rhyming couplets
Matching line endings
Rhyming couplets are pairs of consecutive lines in verse that share an end rhyme: The time has come, the Walrus said, / To talk of many things.
The form creates a sense of completion—each pair arrives at its own small resolution.
Heroic couplets use iambic pentameter; other couplets vary in meter and tone.
