knightly quests
Armored hero journeys
Knightly quests are heroic journeys undertaken by knights in medieval romance literature—missions to slay dragons, rescue captives, recover sacred objects, or prove virtue through trials.
The phrase now applies to any noble or idealistic pursuit, sometimes ironically: His knightly quest for the perfect coffee bean took him to three continents.
