retinopathies
Damaged retinal conditions
Retinopathies is the plural of retinopathy—any disease or disorder affecting the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye.
The term usually appears in medical contexts discussing conditions that damage retinal blood vessels or tissue: Diabetic and hypertensive retinopathies are leading causes of vision loss.
Most retinopathies develop gradually and can lead to blindness if untreated.
