restrike

Strike coins anew

Restrike means to strike again.

In numismatics, a restrike is a coin or medal produced using original dies but at a later date than the originals—sometimes decades or centuries later.

Restrikes are official reproductions, distinguished from counterfeits: The museum sells restrikes of ancient Roman coins.

In printmaking, a restrike is a later impression pulled from an original plate, typically after the artist's death or the edition's close.
