reflectometer

Measures surface reflectance

A reflectometer is an instrument that measures how much light, radiation, or signal is reflected from a surface or back along a transmission line.

In telecommunications, it detects faults in cables by analyzing reflected signals: The technician used a time-domain reflectometer to locate the break in the fiber optic line.

In optics and materials science, reflectometers measure surface reflectivity.
