rapid eye movements
Dreaming gaze flickers
Rapid eye movements are the quick, darting motions of the eyes during certain stages of sleep.
This phase, called REM sleep, is associated with vivid dreaming and brain activity resembling wakefulness.
The movements can be observed beneath closed eyelids.
REM sleep cycles occur several times per night and plays a role in memory consolidation.
