radio-opaque

Stops radiation passage

Radio-opaque describes materials that block X-rays or other radiation, appearing white or bright on radiographic images.

Bones are naturally radio-opaque; contrast dyes are injected to make blood vessels and organs radio-opaque for imaging.

The opposite is radiolucent—transparent to radiation.

Also spelled radiopaque.
