racial separation
Apartheid-style social structure
Racial separation is the practice or policy of keeping different racial groups apart—in housing, education, public facilities, or social life.
The term can describe either enforced segregation by law or custom, or voluntary clustering by preference.
It carries less historical weight than *segregation* but often describes the same reality: The town's racial separation was obvious in its school enrollment patterns.
