mind-reading

Knowing unspoken thoughts

Mind-reading is the supposed ability to perceive another person's thoughts directly, without verbal communication.

In fiction and parapsychology, it's treated as a psychic power.

In everyday use, it often appears negatively: I'm not a mind-reader—you have to tell me what you want.

The term also describes skillful inference of others' mental states from subtle cues.
