protobuf

Google's data format

Protobuf, short for Protocol Buffers, is a method for serializing structured data developed by Google.

It allows programs to encode information in a compact binary format that can be efficiently transmitted between systems or stored, then decoded back into usable data structures.

Protobuf is language-neutral and platform-neutral, making it popular for APIs and data storage where speed and file size matter more than human readability.

The API uses protobuf instead of JSON for better performance.
