property dualism
Mental differs from physical
Property dualism is the philosophical view that mental properties are fundamentally distinct from physical properties, even though both arise from the same substance—typically the brain.
Unlike substance dualism, which posits separate mind and body, property dualism accepts one physical world but maintains that consciousness, qualia, and subjective experience cannot be reduced to or explained by physical processes alone: Property dualism suggests that pain has physical properties detectable by brain scans and mental properties accessible only to the person experiencing it.
