illusionism
Art of deception
Illusionism is the art of creating illusions, particularly in two contexts.
In entertainment, it refers to stage magic—the craft of making impossible things appear to happen through sleight of hand and misdirection.
In visual art, illusionism is the technique of creating convincing three-dimensional appearances on flat surfaces, making painted objects seem to project from or recede into the canvas: The ceiling's illusionism made it seem open to the sky.
