prince consort
Queen's titled husband
A prince consort is the husband of a reigning queen who holds the title of prince but does not share her sovereign power.
The title distinguishes him from a king, which would imply equal or superior authority.
Britain's Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, is the most famous example.
He served as prince consort for over twenty years.
