preschooling
Pre-kindergarten learning period
Preschooling is education for children before they reach the age for compulsory schooling, typically ages three to five.
It can refer to attending a preschool program or, increasingly, to parents teaching young children at home: We're preschooling our daughter this year instead of sending her to daycare.
The term parallels homeschooling but for the earlier years.
