prelight

Check before filming

Prelight refers to lighting work done before principal photography or a live event begins.

In film and television production, crews prelight a set by positioning and adjusting lights in advance, so shooting can begin efficiently when talent arrives: We'll prelight the warehouse tomorrow so we're ready for the Monday shoot.

The term also appears in theater and concert production for advance lighting setup.
